For one of our client, Large SME in Belgium active on an international level, we have been exclusively assigned to recruit their new European Capex Category Manager. This role is key to the client's investment purchasing strategy as it strongly supports the optimization of its investment plan.

As European Capex Category Manager, you will maximize the benefits coming from your high-level technical knowledge combined with the expertise of the existing global purchasing network structure of the group and its supply-base, while, at the same time, exploring new sourcing opportunities and cost-saving solutions for technical purchases.

In this position you will deploy your high-level technical knowledge and expertise in purchasing of equipment, spare parts and services concerning investments as well as other purchases of technical nature for the benefit of the different production-sites, in close collaboration with EU Purchasing manager, Engineering departments, Project Leaders, Area purchasing teams and production-entities.

Your responsibilities:

" Define the purchasing strategy and lead negotiations concerning capital technical purchases linked to cross-border projects and bigger capital expenditure always taking into account the Total Cost of Ownership concept
" Ensure regular alignment of purchasing plans and activities with the goals of the European Engineering Department and other concerned internal business partners
" Works directly with the project team (operations, engineering, program management) to ensure suppliers understand company requirements and can deliver as needed. Reports status to the team and provides solutions to delivery and/or quality issues.
" In close collaboration with EU Capex Manager identify and analyze alternate sourcing opportunities.
" Drive standardization of equipment throughout our European Organization when and wherever possible.
" Interface between suppliers and the different production sites when and where needed
" On demand, participate in Group-projects in which higher level of technical purchasing experience is required
" Provide necessary documentation and information to Area Purchasing Teams to ensure correct purchasing related SAP records (including but not limited to PO, PR, Service Entry Sheet..) by concerned Area Purchasing Teams and Project Leaders
" Provide technical / commercial assistance to area purchasers to develop awareness of operations/engineering requirements and improve technical knowledge
" Elaborate and help develop "best practices" within the purchasing organization regarding capital technical purchases including, but not limited to format and content of request for quotations, contracts, purchase orders, in close collaboration with the legal department, risk-management department and Area purchasing teams
" Actively pursue a search for opportunities to improve the status-quo, drive continuous improvement
" Perform Supplier Audits (including, but not limited to obtaining a general impression of Supplier's workshop or production facilities, equipment condition, condition of the information procedure and operating systems, quality management, delivery reliability, employee qualification… )
" Perform commercial negotiations with suppliers including contract draft preparation, securing internal contract review, approval by all relevant stakeholders (including legal check), contract signing and distribution to the respective Area purchasing team(s)
" Ensure quick and reliable resolution of supplier issues, improving the overall supplier performance throughout the course of each transaction
" Perform risk assessment by quantifying purchasing risks organization could be facing on a specific project

Profil recherché

" You do have minimum 4-6 years of business experience, preferably in technical purchasing of investment items within an industrial environment
" Your are fluent in French and English, written and spoken
" Your are able to travel (20% outside the resident country)
" You possess strong technical knowledge and understanding of manufacturing process and components
" You have a good knowledge of the equipment in the manufacturing environment
" Your master SAP and Microsoft Office
